Council for Geoscience
Geographical Science Catamaran 900

DSC06277 launch (Custom)When it comes to science at sea and survey work, you need a highly manoeuvrable
yet stable platform that can perform.
This is why we are using a proven
catamaran hull design.

The aluminium sheets were sent for
Computer Assisted Router Cutting and
have returned neatly numbered & cut.

Now that they have gained some shape,
they seem to have developed an attitude.

Hello! Hello! This is my very first public appearance. I take a bow.
See my wave breaker in the bow
and the neat chine on port hull.

You are looking at my ribs from the stern.
Adam had nothing to do with it.
He was on leave.
Notice my big sister on the right.
Same designer lable. Teknicraft. I hope that we get to spend some time in the sea together.

Would you look at me now!!
I have been rolled over by the 10-ton crane.
Not that I am that heavy.
Some of my design features are not for publication. So I can't show you all my amazing design features. This is my starboard bow.

It's not often that you get to look at boats
inner soul. There are some high end technology extrutions being used in my contruction.
Do you know that I am a green machine.
Many years from now, when I have done my tour of duty in maybe the year 2068.
I can be recycled. Aluminium is a great choice for building custom boats.
I might even have a face lift from time to time.

Here is looking at me from the bow. My wheel house is in place.

My, don't I look rakish. I look forward
to getting into the sun and sea.

Just look at my spacious aft deck.
Looking from inside the wheel house.

This is looking at the port side
of my wheel house.
And this my starboard side.
I am bigger than you thought?

What a wonderful foredeck I have.
Now I can see how smart I am going to look.
The Geoscience team are going to be really proud of me. Look at all my neat curves.
 DSC05471geowindo (Custom)DSC05477geowheel (Custom) (2)
My windows are in and they have started
applying may paint. There is also lot of
activity on the inside.
Oh my word! look at my plush furniture.
Made with special light weight Tricell board
and marine ply or Melamine laminate cladding.

Now my bow looks better. A little colour can
do magic. Even if it is only the antifouling.
This is my aft starboard tunnel. I am pleased
that they choose red and not the blue.

Just look at my bow. They are still painting it.
You should see the colour in the sun.
They are working on my rubbing strake.
And they are going to fit my Marsili hydraulics,
Speich wipers and other components.

The chaps are installing my helm and work surfaces useing lightweight Nidacore with Melamine laminate other surfaces. My wave breakers from the front.
The also give lift at high speeds.
If I say so myself, I am a cool design.

Here is looking at my tunnel from the stern.
You can see my wave breakers up front.
The neat rubbing strake will save me from
getting scuffmarks.

Have I got bold sign writing or what?
This is a very exiting time for me.
Boats belong in the water and I am a working boat so you can understand that I would like to get to work and test all my gadgets.

This is me almost ready to go to sea now.
I have two Suzuki 2.867 liter, four stroke 175hp outboards with ultra long shafts and counter rotation props. They are very smooth with multi point sequential electronic fuel injection. They are largest displacement and lightest fourstroke in their class.

 DSC06272Minister @ launch (Custom)(1)DSC06273 launch (Custom)
Look at me now in the sea with parliament ministers and dignitaries gracing my decks.
The ladies were very interested in my toilet and my seats.
They were so impressed with all the gadgets fitted on my deck.
I even have a TV crew came to inform
Southern Africa of my duties and talents.

"Now this arm goes down here and then we can map the bottom of the sea."
Personally, I think that they getting a little personal. Looking at the bottom of the sea?
As you can see I have a radar so that my crew can see where I am going in the fog or even in the dark. You never can tell what's out there
or heading for you!!

 DSC06277 launch (Custom)
Peace and quiet at last. I have been far out to sea and have visited a few ports.
The survey team really like me and say that I have good sea keeping and give a great ride.
I am going to be a really busy boat as they have lots of work for me to do.
With a bit of luck I might even have a sister ship to help me do all the work.

The little green people who build this site are pleased to have had
The Council for Geoscience Survey Cat amoung them.
She is a real beauty te be sure. Three cheers for the lads at veecraft Marine.
