Dubai Offshore Crew Transfer Vessels
What are they going to be? They are high speed aluminium mono-hulls.
| Here we are in the form of drawings, waiting someone to get the aluminium, so that they can start building us. Keep your eye on this site and watch the magic. See us being built week by week. It's a true adventure through our creation. Edmund has ordered the aluminium and sent us off for cutting....!!! | |
 | | See our deck from a little higher up. Don't we look tough? | Our deck plates are going on. |
 | | Check out our engine beds. We will have a pair of large turbo charged CATS stradleling our beds. Three generators will be be housed in the same area along with the battery packs. | Our frames? These are not just any old frames. These are Lloyd's approved frames and welds. We are a pair of heavy duty, fast living vessels. |

Johan is making sure that we have a neat radius. We don't want anyone exposed to sharp corners. Johan passed away at the end of March 2008. He was a very special person and will be sadly missed by the team at Veecraft Marine
(1).JPG) | .JPG) | | Our Houdini wheelhouse windows are being installed. | Our Houdini rakish windscreens are also being fitted. |
.JPG) | %20(2).JPG) | | Our propshaft support & rudder shaft housing. | Look at our foredeck now with pads for our fairleads. |
| .JPG) | See the engine room air intakes below the wheelhouse. Lower rubbing strakes are being fitted. They sure are beginning to look fast. | All the wiring and most of the plumbing are now intalled and they are really taking shape. The lines are more pronounced now that the paint has been being applied. |
.JPG) | .JPG) | | Neat clean cut lines lines on the hull of a fast vessel. The rubbing strake almost complete now. Six to eight weeks and we should be in the water. | The passenger compartment is going to look great with all the mouldings, sound proofing, air-conditioner ducts carpeting and aircraft style seats. |
.JPG) | .JPG) | | My passenger cabin is being insulated and I am getting my panelling fitted. We are so exited about getting down to the sea. | Look how neat my piping and wiring is. I sure hope that the workers get to come for a ride with me. They sure deserve to. |
.JPG) | | This is me with my new South Oil Company colours. The other vessels are going to think that we are really smart. | Wheel house and double door passenger entrance. Notice my fire hose connection, fire extinguisher and engine room vents. |
| .JPG) | As you can see I now have a name. It is a name of an oil field. | I sort of feel better now that I have a name. It give you a personality. | | | | See our neat port lights and Nida-Core with Melamine laminate panelling. | We are even getting a music system. I hope that they will play some good music. | .JPG) | .JPG) | Our windscreens with Speich pantograph wiper system and Marco window washer system. See the non-slip finish from the escape hatches. | We even have our own sewerage processing plant. This is our bow access hatch to the plant. Notice the neat vent on the starboad side. | | .JPG) | This is my Lofrans' Falkon windlass for hauling up my anchor. As you can see it even has a brake. | Paint being applied to the non-slip area next to one of the escape hatches from Gebo. | | .JPG) | | It's grand to be outside at last and we are on our way to the sea to be launched. | I am hitting the road for the very first time. Next stop Cape Town Harbour. |
.JPG) | .JPG) | The cheek these people have! Fancy calling me abnormal. | Watch out, here I come ready or not! We are just waiting for our escort! | | | | I am about to get my prop wet. I can't wait to get into the water and see how fast I can go. | Notice how my props have been recessed to reduce my draught. |
| .JPG) | | We are nearly there. We just have to wait for a large vessel to pass and then we will be in the brine. | This is us sitting in a yacht basin. I wish we were with some proper commercial boats. We don't like to be seen with these pretty boats. | %20(2).JPG) | %20(2).JPG) | | We have neat window for England and wiper from Speich in Italy. We have a radio controled 500, 000cp search light. | Soon we will be dashing about off the Dubai coast, imagine that. We will be working girls getting crews to the oil rigs. | %20(2)(1).JPG) | | | Look at our twin helms stations and fancy shipper seats. Our passengers have to step down into the passenger area. | This is looking back towards the bridge. See even our passenger get nice seats. We have two escape hatches in the roof. | .jpg) | .jpg) | It is hard to believe that we were once just sheets of aluminium, manufactured by South Africa's Hulamin Aluminium. | This is the important foundation that we grew up from. It took a great deal of team work. Well Done Veecraft Marine. | | | See ye soon!! | | | | The little people are really angery this morning. The boats were just getting comfortable to bunk in and now they have taken them to see the sea. The little people don't like the sea. Have you ever read a story of a little person going to sea?
We sure will miss our crew boats.
We wish you well!!
